STARA BAŠKA – is an old place situated in the southwest part of the island. Its first name was Kraj (Podkraj) and was mentioned in the 14th century as a shepherd village. The name Stara Baška started being used in the second half of the 17th century.
The cliffs and the clean blue sea are characteristics of Stara Baška. Alongside the sheep breeding, thanks to the aromatic herbs on the karst terrain, the beekeeping is also developed as is the production of quality honey.
Before the entrance to Stara Baška there is a campsite, but you can also find accommodation in private households. In Stara Baška and its surroundings you can find ample sandy beaches.
